EMD SERONO, INC. DOUBLES OFFICE SPACE, NOW OCCUPIES 27,000 SF AT TEN 99 HINGHAM STREET, HINGHAM

August 2008— HINGHAM, MASS. (Issued AUGUST 2008) – For the second time in less than a year, pharmaceutical developer EMD Serono, Inc., has doubled its office space at Ten 99 Hingham Street, a first-class office building on the Hingham / Rockland (Mass.) line at the junction of Routes 3 and 228.

Located just off the Southeast Expressway (Rte. 3 / 93) on a popular route to and from downtown Boston, approximately 38,000 vehicles pass in front of the site during the inbound commute. “It’s ideal for a wide range of retail and service-oriented tenants. The area’s population and income demographics are ideal.” says exclusive broker Richard McKinnon. He expects to have the space fully leased over the next several months. The space is subdividable.

The company now occupies a total of 27,000 square feet in the building. Last November EMD Serono had doubled its previous office total to about 14,000 SF.

Making the announcement was Richard McKinnon, Director of Brokerage Services for The Grossman Companies, Inc., of Quincy, who represented the landlord, Rockland Haverstraw Trust LLC, in the transaction. EMD Serono was represented by Tony Meenaghan, the company’s Director of Facilities.

An affiliate of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, EMD Serono’s mission is discovering and developing medicines that address unmet medical needs including reproductive health, neurology and metabolic endocrinology, as well as oncology as an emerging area of expertise.

Financial services industry advisor Cutter Associates occupies 7,757 square feet in the building. Earlier this year UBS, one of the world’s largest asset managers, leased 21,525 square feet. There remains only 2,000 square feet of office space in the 60,000 square-foot building.
