The Grossman Companies, Inc. has New England roots dating back more than 100 years. The present real estate management and development company was formed in 1979 by the same family that created Grossman's, a pioneer in the building materials business and, for many years, the largest distributor of its kind in the eastern United States. Today, the company continues its pioneering tradition in the areas of property acquisition, development, management, marketing and leasing.

Through a combination of development, acquisition and redevelopment, The Grossman Companies, Inc. has assembled, independently and in joint venture with institutional and private partners, an impressive portfolio of commercial and residential properties, totaling over 2 million square feet. While the company's primary focus is New England, it also has real estate interests in California, Georgia, Texas, Virginia and Canada. All regional properties are managed by the company itself to ensure that the highest standards of management are upheld and that the full potential of each property is achieved. A subsidiary, Grossman Realty Group, handles third-party management and leasing.

Over the years, the company has earned a reputation for identifying under managed or underdeveloped properties that can be repositioned to capture added value. The company is especially adept at "recycling" troubled properties into viable real estate, often replacing blighted or unused properties with pleasing and productive structures. As examples, the company converted an old military depot into air freight terminals, transformed a surplus elementary school into first class office space, revived an obsolete post office as a business center, and redeveloped an old Bellesteel industrial building into a self-storage facility.

As proof, The Grossman Companies, Inc. properties consistently average 95+% occupancy. Among its long-term tenants are Fidelity Investments, Burger King, Papa Gino's, Federated Investors, Boston Market, T.J. Maxx, Charles Schwab, CVS, Pratt Whitney, Home Goods, and University of Phoenix.

Consistent with the company's grounding in family values, the company has developed a close-knit team of experienced professionals who are readily accessible and promptly responsive to its business partners. While focusing on personal attention and traditional values, the company emphasizes long-term investing in which all parties — tenants, owners, investors and lenders — can thrive and prosper.

The core staff of 20 people is based in the company's headquarters in Quincy, Massachusetts, with an additional 7 associates located on site at various properties.

The Grossman Companies, Inc. adopted a team-based matrix structure in the early 1990's to promote skills excellence within the functional areas (acquisitions/financing, leasing/marketing, property management, and accounting/administration), while also assuring property-based planning and focus.
